Also, in Shawnee State there are no dorms, it offers apartment style housing, which was recently renovated.
Shawnee State has a lot of great resources to help its students to be successful, for example, Success Center with free tutoring and advising, Math Lab with free Math tutoring, Necessity Pantry with free food, hygiene and school supplies for all students who need it, Clark Memorial Library with free research resources and more! The programming board always holds many different fun on-campus events, such as monthly BINGOs, discounted movie and bowling nights, workshops and more. I will keep getting up every time I fall down, in order to pass.įreshman: Shawnee State University is a small college. There are around only 3200 students. That is why the classes are not big and feel intimate.I easily engage into a discussion and can always get my questions answered. My professors know me, so the campus feels very friendly. I would like that they don't look down on people, nor gossip when they see people that could not succeed on their very first try. Something I would like to change was the attitude we get from some teachers when you are trying your best, but can't seem to keep up with the rest of the class. I liked that some tutoring was available to those in need after school and that it was optional. Some of the teachers we very compassionate and ready to help me even during their lunch break, or after school. I liked that we had different places to sit and eat lunch or to even study after school. Also, the staff working there were also very nice, understanding, and even got up from their seats, to help me. I liked that the computer room was always available to us and the printer was avilable to us for free. But overall a decent college.Īlum: I liked that I was able to finish the program even after all of my failures however, the program was really fast-paced. The only downside is that there isn't much going on locally and there's not much of a party scene. I believe the sports have been delayed due to the pandemic, but they did have volleyball, track, and baseball teams. SFSC does have housing available to full-time students at the Jacaranda Residence Facility, though I have not stayed at the dorms there myself. The campus is safe, as there is always security riding around keeping an eye on the school grounds. They still keep up with school clubs and free lunch meet-ups to discuss informative topics concerning education and life planning during college and after graduation. Despite restrictions due to COVID, the school still manages to keep school events going with social distancing and masks.
Most courses have an online option as well as a physical class.
